The Precor 9.27 – now priced at $1,999 – is the next model up the line from the 9.23. The 9.27 shares many specs with the 9.23 and like the 9.23 it is non-folding.
If you are reading this, you probably already know about Precor’s reputation for quality, and that they don’t put “bells and whistles” like audio systems and cooling fans on their machines. Enough said; we won’t belabor those issues here.
Here are the 9.27′s highlights, and its differences from the 9.23:
- Includes a chest strap with transmitter for wireless heart-rate monitoring
- 10 preset workout programs vs. 6 for the 9.23 – enough to cover the primary workout types and another indication of Precor’s “stick to the basics” philosophy
- 2 user IDs to save preferences – 9.23 doesn’t have thjis feature
- The 9.27 also has side rails, which the 9.23 does not
Other than that, we could not find any differences between the 9.27 and the 9.23 – same motor, same walking/running deck, same warranty, etc.
Like all Precors, the 9.27 has received outstanding praise from buyers for its high quality. Many buyers report that their Precor is exceptionally quiet and sturdy.
If you want what is probably the BEST quality on the market, and don’t need or want all the frills, the Precor 9.27 should definitely be one of the machines you look at. For our money, we would buy the 9.23 and save the $400, but the hand rails and wireless heart monitoring may appeal to you.

Here are some comments from 9.27 buyers:
I am very pleased with my new TM. It is a great machine. Heavy duty equipment yet easy to use, smooth, and quiet.
The 9.27 is smooth and easy on my knees. I get a great cardio work out and love to monitor my heart rate. One of the great features is how quiet it is.
It is a very sturdy and sound unit and is used daily by two people. One of our main concerns was noise level and we are very pleased with how quiet the machine is.
The 9.27 is a very solid machine. Moves up or down, speeds up or slows down very smoothly and firmly. Great to do hill or speed intervals.
Amazing treadmill, built like a tank. We recently replaced our 15 year old treadmill with the Precor 9.27 and all I can say is WOW! Built to perfection, relatively easy to assemble, very comfortable low-impact deck, and looks classy in the home. Our knees and hips feel much better after a workout than on previous treadmill or at the gym, and because of this our workouts have improved by 50%, with much faster recovery. I can’t rate this treadmill highly enough.
